The first place that I went over break was Paris. I have so many photos (which will take so long loading) that I have decided to break up my trip to Paris in multiple blog posts! The first place that I went to in Paris is The Louvre. The Louvre is home to many famous pieces of art, most notably, La Joconde, more commonly known in English as "The Mona Lisa." I must say that I found The Louvre to be a bit disappointing and depressing. Much of the artwork there all resembles each other; you walk through rooms and rooms of hundreds and hundreds of pieces of art painted in the exact same style during the exact same period, and after a while, they all look the same. I must say that I found the architecture of the building to be much more fascinating than the paintings!! The floors and ceilings are all interesting to look at and provided a lot more interesting material to view than the walls haha. I am hoping to go to the Musee d'Orsay at the end of the semester; The Louvre ran out of room, so all paintings from 1850 on are stored in the Musee d'Orsay. And what is really nice is that I get free admission to both museums, because I am currently a resident of France and can get in my showing my visa!

Really cool architecture in one of the sculpture rooms!
"Winged Victory of Samothrace" or "Nike of Samothrace", Greece, 220-190 B.C.
This lovely painting is called "Les Noces de Cana" by Paolo Caliari. Unfortunately, nobody pays attention to it, because it shares a room with a tiny painting known as...
The Mona Lisa, which is stored behind bullet-proof glass! haha
"La Joconde" by Leonardo da Vinci, 1503-1519
Me and La Joconde!
"Venus de Milo", Greece, 130-100 B.C.
Outside the Louvre
Overall, I was glad that I went to The Louvre and got to see so many famous things!! It is a huge place and you could definitely spend all day there if you wanted.
